Elsa emailed me night before last. She has decided that blogging would finally, put her on Google, and insisted that I do the same. I am listed irrespective whether I blog or not. She added that I could easily find the guys I want if I blogged because most of her other plastic friends, too, have had the opportunity to meet very interesting eligible bachelors online via their blogs.
Eligible ? That sounds a bit corny innit ? The ones I know are usually married, taken or … yeah, you guessed it!
I seriously need to get her to define the word ‘interesting’ because throughout my years online, the only guys I’ve met are the ones who have the same interest, and are not available.. of if they’re are, they’re years younger than me. Let’s make this one clear - I don’t write to entice the wiser gender. I write because there’s this itch that needs to be satisfied, even if its just for a minute. Besides, its good practise to share with others what I think I know than to hoard all that energy - all pent up with nowhere to vent it to - You see, I rarely get angry! I need new hardware from laptops to desktops, to mobiles through DSLR. I also need a job that pays instead of people promising heaven, and running away with their words, to maintain my lifestyle, least to say, help with what’s necessary to keep the world {and mum!} going. A good guy is hard to find - especially now with the IMF going bust! Maybe in another lifetime, I’ll be luckier.
I’ve been amazed at how often those outside the discipline of design assume that what designers do is decoration. Good design is problem solving ~ Jeffery Veen, 2000
Well Elsa, and dear readers, here’s your top 10 Themes {WP, + pure CSS} I find interesting for your new endeavor.
WP Coda is gorgeous - designed in such a way, it displays the blog horizontally, instead of vertically - currently, it does not support pages, but that can be easily rectified if you know how. It is a free WP Theme, and one I’m sure many would adopt.
Its not only free, but its as easy as uploading it to your themes subdirectory, and activating it - Brightness is freshly designed as a Magazine, so it’d be great for journalists, writers, and group blogs.
Redish was designed by Template World. Its a neat CSS theme for most sites - and its totally Free, and downloadable here.
Imagination is clean and a well designed CSS theme for complete sites and brought to you by Rambling Soul. Download it here, or visit Rambling Soul for more info.
If you’ve used Tumblr, theming takes another bent as compared to Wordpress, or even Joomla. Simple Life reflects the simplicity, and can be previewed and downloaded for FREE.
I simply adore “Keep it Simple” - a minimalist designed theme, this is by far the best uncluttered theme I’ve seen in a very long time. Drop by StyleShout for a preview, or click here, to download it.
If you love headers, you’ll love Unbound. This clean minimalist design showcase your best photography as a header, and at the same time does not have the stereotyping bloggy-look to it which is good if you’re using a blog software as a backend without wanting to have your site look like just any other. Drop by StyleShout for a demo, or click here, to download it.
Organic Design is brought to you by Studio7Designs, a forward thinking design company specializing in creating strong branding for social and environmentally-conscious companies. Click here, to preview or download the theme.
Squick has been designed by Suzanne Roman’s Art for the Web, an Aussie-based company dealing in minimalist yet effective web designs for companies, and blogs. Featuring 3 separate pages: Home, contact and portfolio, it is ideal for small companies, or an online Resume. Click here to demo it, and here, to download.
Surreal has been designed by Rambling Soul - It is clean, and easy on the eye - both for readers, as well as site owner. It’d be ideal for an online diary, or even a blog on philosophy. To preview or download it, click here.
Enjoy!
