The Alchemist of the Soul

La Joie de Vivre

I’d say it’s a fun thang – you literally flash it about with its auto flash ever ready to capture the joie de vivre of the day.

It is light, and measures less than ½ a foot – it is well designed though I imagine having really short finger nails to ensure handling it to send short text messages, would be sufficiently simple. Don’t even contemplate your French manicure would make it easy – it won’t. It’s not a ladies phone – it’s well designed for those below 26. It comes with two inbuilt cameras and a plethora of applications to spoil you rotten for a long time until you decide to upgrade!

With the N82, Nokia has re-captured the image hugging populace and send them into frenzy – with the capability of wirelessly transmitting images, videos and thoughts to a LifeBlog, you’re ensured that every moment is being evidenced. Throw away the voice recorder already, this cam-phone delight not only records your memories, but it also reads office-ready documents if you ever decide to work the gadget to the max! I’d say it’s a fun thang – you literally flash it about with its auto flash ever ready to capture the joie de vivre of the day.

Did I say that it comes with stereophonic speakers that grant you a surround sound effect to all the latest trance digs? With that in mind, and subscriptions to both audio and video casts, you’re going to enjoy the fun gadget even when you’re coup up in your hospital bed, or spending time alone in your knock-down cubicle. It’s not an ego-driven phone – it’s a tool that incites you to want to be creative and share the creations online!

Unfortunately, it is too light for me {yup! it’s only 4 ounces mind you – 112mm tall, 50.2mm wide and 17.3mm thick}. I’m afraid that if I dropped it, I’ll not be able to piece it together even with UHU glue. The 5 mega pixels Carl Zeiss camera with its auto focus Xenon flash is awesome enough to intimidate point and shoot manufacturers anxious – the camera being covered by a protective slide, when flicked open automatically activates it. The screen at 2.4″ TFT, QVGA screen supports up to 16 million colours is clearly wonderful, but don’t let it fool you – tilt the phone, and it automatically re-address your views from potrait to landscape and vice versa. If you love playing mobile games like me, you’d definitely want to check out some at glu. Downloading Age of Empires III, and Kasparov Chess is about RM10 total, though your fingers need to be agile and fast to play!

Awesome!

N82 Test ShotsWhat would you like to see in a phone designed for yuppies? – From WidSets, Garmin, eBuddy & Gizmo, Devicescape, GMail and Opera you’re bound to love it every moment. Of course it doesn’t come equipped with a multi-media design tablet, but why would you want to bring your work everywhere when the basic modules are there for your picking, and downloading. The calculator is a tad disappointing, but the music player looks exactly like WinAmp in the eighties – the animatronics is so last century you’d expect to see something more enticing airing a 21st century slant – the sound is good at 80% but please don’t blast it all the way up as it breaks big time!

The N82 is a good phone, and I would most likely get it as a second phone but I’ve fallen for the E51, so there’s no point trying to coax me into getting another. If the themes on the N series does not entice you to be creative, drop by Zedge, and download some.

Phone Specifications:
