The Alchemist of the Soul

Ripping My Blouse, and Baring it All

Do you love watching people when you sit at your favourite café sipping your favourite capuccino thinking about nothing ?  I was thinking whatever happened to GeoWorld .. remember that software way back in the eighties ? They were good but what really happened to them then and where did they disappear to ? You can’t remember ? O … I forgot .. you were just about to be conceived… :D

Jim dropped by yesterday with a 2-Grand worth of an IBM Lenovo laptop – its huge! and lighter heavier than my ex-T42 {which I now do not miss it one bit !!}. For the price he had paid at the recent PC Fair, I queried. It’s not like Jimmy to splurge on something as grostesquely huge as a table mat lugging it around especially when one is travelling from one end of the world to the next. We’ve not seen each other since he got himself hitched to his lady fair .. like the flow of the river, water cannot be cut no matter how hard you try. You can block a flow, but you can never in a million years cut it – like friendship you know ? Neanmoins, he dropped by and asked if I could set-up his system. It is new .. not even 2 weeks old and the sound system is quite neat though anything these days can sound neat if the hardware has been designed to make it sound great..er. He had brought along his P1 WiMax thingamajig, hoping that I’d be able to set it up without a hitch.

We tried, but somehow his Broadcom thingy or Vista didn’t allow it to get connected – then a brainwave nudged him, and he called the Support people at P1. They were courteous, and very helpful. They literally ‘guided’ me on the phone on how to setup the Internet using their cubic-gadget… then finally told me, if the system is running on Vista, then the possibility to connect is slim. There must be a way to over-rule that non? If I am an ISP, I’d most likely boot the Support Staff for not being proactive enough! Whilst scouring the net just a few minutes ago.. I found a nifty blog on tweaking the P1. Hmm … now what would I do if I subscribed to a P1 … I’d most likely have more energy to do other things !! Imagine uploading software to your server in a blink of an eye ?  It’d be neat to work with a P1 account really – but do I have to rip my blouse and bare all before I can even get a decent pay to work for humanity ?

MAXIS needs to seriously buckup its broadband service, since DiGi launched its broadband service in the Valley.

The biggest misconception people have about the past, is thinking it can detract from the rest of their lives. It can’t! – The past only ever makes more stuff possible. Which by the way let’s talk about your Government – you ‘humans’ don’t really like people in high office right – especially after voting for them to play their roles as servants to … whatever complex peace and economic ties, bilaterally or otherwise. How does the vicious circle work in your world ? You pay taxes, and then say the G doesn’t give two hoots about your well-being ? Stop paying ! You don’t pay your servants if they’re not giving you results do you ? Unless you’re a G, then you can bloody well do anything right ? So why don’t humans just govern themselves and taking to tasks the tasks at hand, instead of giving away their hard-earned ‘cash’ to some ‘body’ who don’t bloody care about them in the first place ?

While we’re debating on this issue .. which is what Malaysians are in dire need to greatly improve … in reference their failing Government having identity and security issues .. with considerations aside – how much of being human are we in the first place if we don’t feel it, live it, breathe it, love it and embody it. It’s great to know that the body you carry around is an illusion, but who is telling you that ? the Society, or your Great Self ?

So I was downloading open source software for the bloke yesterday – me, all hyped and raring to go {have not slept for 2 nights, and then last night fell asleep on the keyboard} … somewhere .. maybe dip in the pool or even take an Air Asia flight out to … then I remembered .. I am not earning my worth here in this G-Forsaken country, and the people who have jobs are complaining about not making enough ? The three basic things you need to get your system secured … and hopefully be printed here for the very last time … are … Spybot, ZoneAlarm, and .. AVG. Once you have these installed, you might want to consider downloading OpenOffice or Symphony, .. Thunderbird or Revolver, Opera or Safari. These screenshots should entice you to want them ;-)

You might also want to consider … Nambu {a mail-like interface for Twitter messages. Easily managing several accounts, it has the makings of a solid client}, Spotify {Allows you to stream almost any song you can imagine via the internet. Access is free, though you’ll need to listen to a short advertisement every few songs}, JetPhoto {a feature-rich and easy-to-use digital photo software} … and SunClock {one of those things you’d need if you’re ‘net’-working with the world!}

Being busy does not always mean real work. The object of all work is production or accomplishment and to either of these ends there must be forethought, system, planning, intelligence, and honest purpose, as well as perspiration. Seeming to do is not doing. That said, if you’re a Social Media Expert {whatever that means these days} you might want to consider Falls’ article on how he uses Social Media to build his offline network – a must read only if you want to improve and build rapport

The purpose of meeting face-to-face wasn’t to get something in return, but to listen to the stories of others, their thoughts and ideas, and last but not least, allow them to put a face with a user name. Not to mention, face-to-face meetings produce a connection that online tools can’t produce ~ Jason Falls
