If you don’t quit sending or rather “spamming” my mail box, I’m so gonna delete you from my list !! s/he said.
I wish I am devious enough to start spamming … or even cruel enough to rent the Universe asunder !! Obviously, the twit’s got it bad – s/he just discovered the Internet, and with everyone who is just about anyone in her/his entourage, introducing her/him to Facebook – the most popular social networking platform where everyone has a page {well maybe the Pope doesn’t have it!}, granting one the facility to literally connect to just about anyone on the Internet {aka the virtual world} being online, especially on Facebook can be daunting {well maybe not as daunting as baking mud-pies!}
First thing first – before you join any social networking platform – ask yourself this simple question – “Do I really want to connect with the world? or Do I really want to connect with all my old friends and find out if they, like me, enjoy barbecuing on Saturdays?” and if your answer is in the affirmative, irrespective what it is, then you’re advised to love Google or Yahoo {for the matter of fact, any other webmail provider you’re used with!}. For crying out loud, that’s what they are there for. They’re extending their lurrve to you, and you’re complaining they’re not good enough for you?
It’s not the tool that’s stupid, ***k***d!
Gees … sign up for a new email account the likes of .. yournameFB@gmail.com or yournameFB@yahoo.it {where FB stands for Facebook} or whatever your favourite webmail account and set your privacy settings before you do anything else – of course, setting up your profile is exciting – its a thing you know … having a profile and showing the world you’re not Bozo the Clown, does not tell the world you’re inapt when it comes to dealing with the World. You have to know how to work the platform instead of firing away bullets – having an attitude problem with just about anyone online is such a non-non {If you must be a jerk, do it in your closet!!} !!
Impulse is intoxicating; action is absorbing; but it is the result of every deed that leads man to realization
Do you want to be found on Facebook ? No ? Great ! Neither do I – and that’s one of the many reasons as to why, you’ll never find my personal page unless you really must know and connect to me {which only the very few are priviledge to}. Otherwise, there’s the Fanpage, and that is good enough for everyone who is just about anyone who might want to connect to discuss why “Ae” shouldn’t rhyme with “Magnets!”.
Follow this simple step to remove yourself {or your profile} from Facebook Search results:
- Visit your search privacy settings page
- Under “Search Visibility” select “Only Friends” {Remember, doing so will remove you from Facebook search results, so make sure you want to be removed totally. Otherwise, you can select another group, such as “My Networks and Friends”.}
- Click “Save Changes”
You’ve been tagged in a series of photos your friends have uploaded in their albums, and you don’t want the world to see you jumping from vine to vine, somewhere in Peru ? Fret not! Facebook is really user-friendly you know, only if you take the time to learn how to make good use of the platform ! And you say ignorance is bliss ? First visit your profile privacy page and modify the setting next to “Photos Tagged of You”. Select the option which says “Customize…” and a box like the one pictured below will pop up.

There are many ways to make Facebook work with you ! Just take or make time ‘educating’ it to function the way it’s supposed to instead of lashing out at your friends – ignorance can create animosities. The moment is too short to live in disharmony! {Want your wish granted? Its done! I’ve deleted you from my FB list!}. Wanna learn more ? CNet Australia has something you might want to vet through, and implement – you can still set your privacy controls right the tenth time around. It is NOT set in concrete.
Now here’s a list of the great things you need to know about your favourite social network aka Facebook – you see, Facebook is now a generic term – when one does social network, one actually ‘facebook’! like when one searches the Web, one ‘google’. So quit the whining already! Thank you AainaA
When He gives His bountiful gifts, He may give by the hand of your worst enemy; and when He takes all you possess, He may take it away even by the hand of your best friend !!!
- Facebook is cleanly designed and has a classy, upmarket feel to it–a whiff of the Ivy League still clings. People tend to use their real names on Facebook. They also declare their sex, age, whereabouts, romantic status and institutional affiliations. Identity is not a performance or a toy on Facebook; it is a fixed and orderly fact. Nobody does anything secretly: a news feed constantly updates your friends on your activities. On Facebook, everybody knows you’re a dog.
- In Facebook there are separate pages you can setup for groups or organizations. If your church has a ministry that wants to have a page on Facebook, it can. It is very simple to do.
- The Facebook for Professionals manual, in particular, should come in handy if you’re new to Facebook and want to know more about its setup or if you’ve been using it primarily for personal reasons and want to make a privacy wall to start using it to make professional connections.
- Of course, it’s not all about cerebral exploration. For ambitious artists, consumed with finding recognition for their work, making connections on Facebook can be addictive and, consequently, viral.
- First off, it’s important to understand where your “television screen” really is. In the case of Facebook, it’s our Newsfeed, which sits on the Homepage. But before we can really define our Facebook prime time, we have to know who are viewers are define what makes them an active viewer.
- “If you are trying to interact in an external environment by having a Facebook or MySpace page, then you are losing out on the ability to control the users for monetizing or branding.”
- Update Page Frequently: Post pictures, videos, links, and status updates on a daily basis. This will keep your company in the mind of each fan and can help to increase traffic and sales to your website. Additionally, every time you post on your fan page it will show up in all of your fans’ news feed.
- Organizations joining social networks should understand the commitment of being part of a specific online community. Becoming a member of a social network isn’t as important as listening and engaging in the conversations.
And if you’re still not satisfied, you might as well oogle at my friend, Ophelie Winter doing what I like best … in Affection!
